The Conference on Diversity in Engineering (CDE) is hosted by Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario from November 9-11th, 2018. CDE is a national forum that will focus on diversity in the engineering industry and the role that students will play in creating a more inclusive industry.
The CDE will bring together a delegate base of 200 multi-disciplinary engineering students representing 51 engineering societies. The event will create a network of driven individuals looking to make a difference in the industry.
The theme is "Finding Unity in Community", chosen to highlight to student leaders across the nation that the possibilities are limitless when working together. CDE 2018 will be fostering an idea-sharing, collaborative environment to allow for a deep-dive into conversations surrounding diverse backgrounds, education, work and collaboration. Delegates will not only leave the conference with a solid understanding of the issues minorities encounter in the engineering profession, but they will also be equipped to appropriately address these issues to create a more inclusive and thriving community. Students attending CDE will have the opportunity to meet and hear from successful, interesting, and talented speakers prepared to share their experience and knowledge on how to embrace diversity to better address the complex, interdisciplinary problems of society.
The fee for this weekend will be $100. All other expenses will be covered by the UBC Engineering Undergraduate Society. It will include travel, hotels, and food for the weekend. For more information, please visit their website at: http://cde.cfes.ca
