Conference on Diversity in Engineering

  • Western University 1151 Richmond Street London, ON, N6A 3K7 Canada (map)

Applications close at 10am on September 30th.

Hosted by Western University in London, Ontario from November 1-3th, 2019.

The Conference on Diversity in Engineering (CDE) is a national forum that will focus on diversity in the engineering industry and the role that students will play in creating a more inclusive industry.

The CDE will bring together a delegate base of 200 multi-disciplinary engineering students representing 51 engineering societies. The event will create a network of driven individuals looking to make a difference in the industry.

The CDE aims to encourage discussion and collaboration between engineering students and professionals. The CDE intends to build upon the current momentum of positive change that continues to make engineering an environment conducive to exploration and creativity. Delegates will not only leave the conference with a solid understanding of the issues minorities encounter in the engineering profession, but they will also be equipped to appropriately address these issues to create a more inclusive and thriving community. Students attending CDE will have the opportunity to meet and hear from successful, interesting, and talented speakers prepared to share their experience and knowledge on how to embrace diversity in order to better address the complex, interdisciplinary problems of society.

We are looking for students who are passionate about diversity and equality in engineering. We want our delegates to be engaged at the three-day conference but also to take the information they learn and apply it at the UBC Campus.

Please note, this conference is open to all genders.

The fee for this weekend will be $100. All other expenses will be covered by the UBC Engineering Undergraduate Society. It will include travel, hotels, and food for the weekend.
