Slipstick

Why is it called a Slipstick?

Back in ye olde times, there existed such a thing as an analog computer with an instrument that could do quick computations. Those instruments were called slipsticks. Nowadays, we call them calculators, but naming a yearbook “Calculator” would just be silly.

The Slipstick is the engineering yearbook. It’s full of pictures from events, like E-week and Week E^0, clubs and student teams and graduates. Slipstick fees are included in graduate fees so no grad goes home without a little piece of their last undergraduate year.

Slipstick Archive

As an alumni-guided initiative, we are pleased to provide digitalized versions of Slipsticks dating back to 1951. These are password-protected with our favourite four letter acronym, which we’re sure all UBC Engineers know (or can figure out!).
