APPLIED ONE STUDENT FEE

VOTE YES MARCH 6-13

The Engineering Undergraduate Society is bringing forward a referendum that would create an Applied One Student Fee in exchange for guaranteed engineering student space and formal EUS advocacy rights in future Applied Science capital projects.

This page explains what you’re voting on and what it means for engineering students.

What Students Get

If approved, this referendum secures:

  • New design team bay space

  • A makerspace accessible to all engineering disciplines

  • Dedicated clubroom space for MANU, MTRL, and MINE

  • Formalized EUS advocacy and negotiation rights on future Applied Science buildings

Why This Is Happening

Design team space is beyond capacity

  • ~20% of engineering students participate in design teams

  • Makerspaces are limited to specific departments

  • Applied One is a major capital project happening now

Without leverage, specialized student space is often reduced or removed during large faculty-led builds.

Fee Structure

  • $15 in 2026/27

  • $30 in 2027/28

  • $50 in 2028/29

  • Levied only until financing obligations are met (~10 years)

  • Fee will not be collected until an agreement is signed

  • There will be an opt-out for students facing financial hardship
