This page consists of all awards offered by the EUS, including both monetary and non-monetary awards, and clearly outlines if the awards require applications, nominations or are automatically considered. All awards are designed to recognize active contributions to the UBC Engineering community by undergraduate engineering students. Details in the dropdowns below include the award descriptions, application timelines and processes, and contact information in case of questions.

The EUS Community Contribution Award recognizes UBC Engineering undergraduate students that have exhibited outstanding leadership and initiative to help their fellow students within the UBC Engineering community. If you (or someone you know) fostered growth at UBC Engineering through initiative, innovation and active involvement, this award is for you (or them). This year, eight (8) awards totalling $6,350 will be given out. Nominations close at 23:59 on Saturday, January 18, 2025 (see form below).
Eligibility:
Students must have completed at least two academic terms at UBC Engineering towards a B.A.Sc. to be eligible. Unfortunately, first years and students that have transferred in this year are ineligible.
Application Process:
Nominate yourself or a current student by January 18, 2025
Nominated candidates are invited to apply to a comprehensive application via email
Results are announced by the end of the term
Note that you may nominate multiple students, however this form must be resubmitted for each new nominee. If you are unsure if you or your nominee meets eligibility, please still submit the form.

One award of $3,050 have been endowed by G. E. Baynes, B.A.Sc.'32. This award recognizes an undergraduate Engineering student who has demonstrated strong qualities of leadership, combined with an active participation in sports. A candidate that has demonstrated leadership in areas other than sports is equally eligible for this award. Applications close at 23:59 on Friday, January 24, 2025 (see form below).
Eligibility:
Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
Must have active participation in sports
Active participation should be thought of as a long term commitment to a sport. Involvement in individual and team sports could take many forms such as
Varsity,
Intramurals,
UBC or Non-UBC affiliated sport clubs,
E-sports, Chess, etc.
One-off events like Storm the Wall or Day of the Longboat DO NOT count as active participation in sports for the purpose of this award.
Note that in selecting the candidate, consideration will also be given to academic standing. The award is made by the Faculty of Applied Science in consultation with the Engineering Undergraduate Society.

Emblem Awards recognize long term, dedicated service to any part of the UBC Engineering Community by a graduating undergraduate engineering student. It takes into consideration their record of service for the entire time that they have been a member of the UBC Engineering community. Students that have dedicated themselves to improving the academic, professional development, and/or social aspects of the engineering student experience are excellent candidates for these awards.

The EUS Design Team Engagement Awards are given to UBC Engineering design teams and the members who have gone above and beyond to show leadership, encourage learning and development in other team members, and have been outstanding members of the UBC Design Team community.

Program Club Engagement Awards recognizes active members of the UBC Engineering community for their hard work and dedication to improving the student experience in their respective programs. Up to eight (8) awards totalling $400 are available per Program Club and given out by the EUS based on the recommendations of Program Club Presidents.

Created in 2023-24, Order of Godiva is named after Lady Godiva, the patron saint of engineering, and is the highest honour bestowed on a volunteer of the society. The volunteer recipient exemplifies the values of culture and community building which the EUS holds paramount and embodies the spirit of a UBC Engineering through their leadership. The Rookie of the Year Award is given to the new EUS Volunteer who met and exceeded all expectations placed on them. It recognizes the work done to improve the community as a first time Director or Manager in the current academic year. The Joey Uyesugi Award is given in recognition of exceptional dedication and service by an EUS Volunteer from whom it was not expected. It takes into account the expectations placed on the recipient in comparison to their exceptional work and is given out by the EUS Executive at the annual Engineer’s Ball in January. The Bowinn Ma Award identifies the EUS Councillor of the Year. This award honours the councillor who showed the most dedication to good governance, accountability, and exceeding the duties expected of an EUS Councillor. Introduced in 2023-24, the Christian Kyle Award is given in recognition of exceptional dedication, service and self-sacrifice by one or more graduating undergraduate engineering students in completing their duties, both within and beyond the purview of their position(s) in the Engineering community.
